Are work friends real?

It’s your first day at a new job and you have the usual first day jitters. You’re not sure where to put your lunch, where to sit and then you look up to see a new co-worker smiling back at you. It's your first work friend. These work smiles make my work environment something to look forward to. Yes, work is called work for a reason. I know we're hired for our abilities not because we can play well with others. And yet it’s the one co-worker who can’t share their toys with others that seem to make work life a more difficult experience.

When we are in grade school, we bond with the other students in our class so this seems natural in our adult work settings. Once you've learned to give and take, work friendships start developing.

A couple of years ago I was working in a very fast paced, politically savvy and difficult advertising agency. And yet what made me happy was the friendship I created with my adjoining cube mate. My days were a lot happier with her sitting there. And when things got tough with the group I was working with, she was there to help cushion the blow. Within months, our work relationship turned friendly with dinners and chats. And about a year and a half later I stood up for her in her wedding.

But how did this work friendship develop from a work reference to a life long friend? It’s amazing to me how some work friends become casual followers on LinkedIn and you can never have a conversation with them again. Isn't this the way that social media works?

We feel connected without seeing the person again.

What is it about a work environment that makes you feel so closed off? Is it because we sit behind computers and email each other more then we talk? I bumped into a woman in the restroom today and asked how she was even though she sits across from me!

Some of my past co-workers I think of and smile. Some have gotten married, had babies and moved on to other jobs. Work friends exist because we are in the trenches together, but do you think that these friendships can last throughout time? Do you think work friends are real friends?

Phew! I feel so much better. Really, truly what does a good girl wear? I find myself getting super excited about going away this weekend to SITScation and then it hit me.

How much do I let my hair down?

And before you answer, I'm pretty sure I have this little number already in my closet. Oh no, it's at the dry cleaners. Then I'll have to find something else!

I'm sure I can pull this look off. I already have the red lipstick and flower, but who knows what she's wearing below the car window.

I love how these ladies are hanging out by the pool, after doing some Vegas shopping. But what do they change into when they go out at night?

And this my lovelies, is really me. Five years ago at the, *wink, wink* hot nickel slots. One little letter change in the last word could have changed everything for me! So what's a girl to do? How do good girls dress when their in Las Vegas? Or do they become bad girls? Very bad...

It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's the Blue Angels

Welcome to San Francisco Fleet Week. If you couldn't make it out to SF this weekend, then no worries I've brought it to you. Hold on a second, you don't know what Fleet Week is? Well, this is THE fall event that brings San Franciscans, out of their Victorian apartments and onto their roofs. We all want to see the Blue Angels fly over our city and Golden Gate Bridge. With an estimated audience of 1 million people, the Blue Angels' are famous for their signature diamond formation and the six-jet Delta formation.

Let me let you in on a little secret, the show is spectacular and the sound is overwhelming!

On Saturday, Honey and I joined our friend 'Mark' and thirty friends on his rooftop to watch the show. What really amazed me, was seeing all of the other rooftop parties from where we were standing. Like this one...

And this one... I love this picture because it shows others on their roofs and the stretch of Union Street.



I must admit that I am very proud of this Blue Angel jets flying over the Golden Gate Bridge. You may be wondering why? They fly so fast, that a great shot can be easily missed.



And this my dear blogging friends, is when the rooftop parties had to end because the Blue Angels had to cancel their show due to weather. Please do not worry as they flew again on Sunday and made up for it. Comment below and tell me if you've ever seen the Blue Angels? If not can you come next year? Social butterfly inspiration

I agree with the concept, that some people love to fly through a party and effortlessly mingle with every partygoer.  I am a self-proclaimed social butterfly, who makes sure that everyone is having a good time at a party and feeling comfortable.
