It was 4:00 on Friday afternoon, when my best friend called to ask for advice. Her husband was at work and her daughter was sleeping at her Grandparents, so suddenly she was free for the night. She had seven open hours to devote to whatever she wanted to do. She asked me to make some suggestions to her for her time off? How would you feel for example, if your partner called to let you know there’s been a change of plans. He’s going to a ballgame game with some co-workers and you can do whatever your heart desires. This call started me thinking, what do people do with sudden unplanned time for themselves?
What do you do to fill up your free hours?
For my friend, I suggested that she watch something on T.V. that she doesn’t normally get to watch, have a bath and drink some wine. However if she was missing her husband, I also suggested that she put on his T-shirt or sweatshirt.
(Do you think that men’s clothes are comfortable and inviting?)
I am not recommending to you out of loneliness and despair, that you should scream your partner’s name from a rooftop, but rather try to become comfortable spending time by yourself. I have found that staying in the here and now, helps me appreciate my days.
So, do you feel unsettled and out of schedule when plans change? What are some of the things that you do to fill your time when you're suddenly free for the night? Tell me, am I the only one that thinks men’s clothing is comforting?

I love wearing their clothes, very comfy and smells amazing, xxxooo
:-( I want someone who wants to wear my shirt. I promise it will sell amazing. :-)
Um, what are these "free hours" you speaketh of?
Ooh, you must mean the time I spend hiding in my bathroom reading (devouring) scandalous tabloids.
Yep - nothing better than one of the hubs tshirts and trashy reading material.
Such a great question, Laura. As someone who never finds themselves in this situation, I would have to say that I would embrace it wholeheartedly...with open arms...both of them.
I think you get the point. Reigning supreme over the TV remote and a glass of wine is all that I would require.

I used to love wearing his boxer shots and tees around the apartment. Especially when he was off at basic training.
as far as time off - baths, reading in my pjs, baking and reading decadent magazines.
Dollface: So comfy I know. Great minds think alike.
~K: You'll find her soon. We all promise!
Sweet Mama Jones: Ah yes "free hours" are usually before kids. Oooh I forgot about trashy reading material. I must call my girlfriend xoxo
Cee: We all seem to be running and running and then all of a sudden there's a free moment. I think we should start a "go take a bath" club.
3 Bay B Chicks: Thanx my friend. We have to figure out a way to give a little free time away from your beautiful rugrats. You totally deserve the time!
Char: I vote for you to be the president of our new "take a bath club".
Fab post! Love that first checkered shirt! And luxuriating in a hot bath with a nice glass of wine sounds lovely!

you are not the only one :) i love wearing my boyfriends clothes, especially to sleep in.. i really do think it is comforting so i happen to sleep better. i also love when i have sudden open times to myself. it puts you in a relaxed mood because nothing has to get done, there are no plans to stick to, its just.. ahhh :) i usually read, drink some wine, and yes maybe even a bubble bath :)
I have no free hours but I do like the clothes you speak of! That black and white shirt is especially cute!
When I was pregnant, I loved wearing my husbands T-shirts.
There is a sweater at John's house that I have now declared as mine. I wear it in winter when I'm chilly.
Oh that's my whole life, I have NO PROBLEM filling the time. And I have no TV anyway :)
Nicole: I ditto your comment and sentiments.
Unknown Mami: What a great idea. Comforting I'm sure.
Joanie M: That's right take what yours and then take something of his =) I have also declared war on my honey's socks.
Braja: But you are in recovery and doing everything you can with your downtime. We all seem to wish for what others have xoxo
The last time I slept over at my significant other's, he let me sleep in his t-shirt. It was so comfortable that I wore it pretty much the rest of the next day! I find free hours are amazing ... though usually I spend most of them on the computer or reading! So I think people should definitely embrace those spontaneously free moments!
Awww. If my husband and I were still dating I'd probably put on his clothes. But since we're married and I've seen his hygiene habits there is no way that I'd put on one of his shirts.
